Pop Culture vs. The Bible: Intro

Our culture is saturated with innumerable man-adjusted illustrations, images, and suppositions about Biblical teachings which contribute to widespread sinful behavior. But because it’s so pervasive, prevalent, and popular it’s taken as the norm, as harmless, as something to aspire to. [Yet] God’s people continue to perish for lack of knowledge. {Click on Read Original Post to read the whole blog.}

Life on the Rapids

Life to me is like those rapids, it comes at you fast, you don’t know what’s ahead, you know you’re going to hit some hard spots but you don’t know how you’re going to get through them until you get to them. You’re afraid of falling…. {Follow the link to read the full post.}

Samson's Purpose was Greater than Marriage

Can you imagine knowing your purpose from birth? And knowing everything your parents did for you was preparation to fulfill that purpose? Samson knew, yet he still sinned…. He allowed his flesh to rule him even though he experienced the power of the Spirit of God strengthening him on occasion. [Click below to read the full post.]

Show Me the Love

Occasionally, I have to remind people that I am a work in progress, just like them. Though I continue to strive, I have not reached the mark (Philippians 3:12-14), just like you. When I first read God’s instruction to Hosea, I was taken aback. I felt sorry for him. Goodness, to be explicitly instructed to take an adulterous spouse back! That couldn’t be me!

Our Nakedness

Some argue that Adam and Eve knew no shame before the fall because they were innocent. The argument suggests they had no knowledge of good and evil. I think that’s rather simplistic. Adam and Eve were made in the image of their creator. They were connected to their source. They had all the knowledge they needed and access to whatever they wanted. (Read full post)

Firstfruits of All Your Crops

However, when you love others, share your joy, spread peace, are patient, kind and good the people on the receiving end usually can’t help but to reciprocate. Such behavior starts a chain of sorts. Sooner or later, someone is going to ask you about your faith, your beliefs, the God you serve and the church you attend.

Saved from Nice

Nice translates to dishonest to me. People try to be “nice” by not hurting your feelings, so they misrepresent their feelings, their thoughts, their ideas. They misrepresent who they are. Because they are being “nice”, you end up interacting with a false representative. (Read the whole blog by clicking on “View Original Post”)

Happy Thoughts in the Morning

I know my absolute best for myself is merely a drop in the bucket of His best for me. I’ve been in continual thanksgiving and praise this year because I’m so grateful and appreciative for all that the Father is going to grace my life with. His mercy and generosity is legendary – so big the horizon can’t even give it proper scope. {Click on View Original Post to read whole blog.}

LaShawnda – Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m sitting here in tears now reading this because I didn’t know how to express how I was feeling. Reading this has touched me very deeply. Yep – I too need love and shouldn’t be ashamed to admit it. It is definitely time for me to also “fold up my petals” in a few places. BUT GOD is good and is clearly asking me to pay attention to some of the wonderful new, nurturing and giving people he has placed in my life. God Bless you for sharing of yourself and your experiences so openly. I continue to be blessed by your writing. Peace & Blessings your way – ~jax.

Hi LaShawnda,

I came across your blog via the christian women blogger network. I love that you were able to take away some lessons from your experience. I particularly like the following statements: “I know she didn’t enjoy a good portion of her life because she was always waiting on something better, something else, someone else…. I’ve been living from her lessons most of my life: enjoy each day as it comes with the people who are present.” and “Relation does not equal relationship.” Those are powerful statements and as a collector of quotes I’m adding those to my list.
