Set Fire to the Rain is a therapeutic letter featured in Desert of Solitude: Refreshed by Grace. It was written three years after the addressee, Peewee, died. The letter represents the tiers and nuances of love and forgiveness that entangles and confuses interactions between an abuser and the abused.
Nik Godshall’s sermon titled, “Why Marriage?” is an excellent message about the beauty of maintaining sexual purity for marriage and continuing with faithfulness in the relationship.
Desert of Solitude is for the dreamers and strivers. The people who may have achieved nothing, something or a great deal, but that “one thing” continues to elude them. What is it that you want from life, in life or through your life? What do you think you’re missing? What do you believe will complete your existence?
It doesn’t matter. Whatever “it” is, you are enough for your life as you are now.
We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. But speaking the truth in […]
For a while, I struggled with the true view and value the closest or more constant people in my life have and project of me. Then I decided I am going to live my life out loud. I am no longer going to shield my thoughts, hopes and ambitions for my future and my life.
Jesus didn’t ask God to take believers out of the world but instead to use them in the world. Because Jesus sends us into the world, we should not try to escape from the world, nor should we avoid all relationships with non-Christians. We are called to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16), and we are to do the work that God sent us to do. A follower of Christ becomes set apart through believing and obeying the Word of God.

A Dream for Christmas was made in 1973 but is set in 1950. It should be on a classic Christmas movie rotation every year, but it’s not. It’s a really good story about a family working together through change and challenges. It’s a slice of life and a looking glass into an every day poor African-American experience pre-Civil Rights Movement. Very intriguing. Very warm. Very well done.
